Yr 12 Criminology students spent the day putting their skills and knowledge to good use in order investigate a serious crime. They were presented with a crime scene that they had to analyse for evidence, and then they put their interviewing techniques to the test by trying to find out which, if any, of the key suspects was telling the truth.
The students worked in teams and had to compete against each other to see of they could uncover the truth about the crime. The day was a great success and would not have been possible without the co-operation of PC Luty, who advised on points of law and police technique, the three suspects - Miss Masud, Miss Everson and Mr Maynard, and the key eye-witness, My Harding.
We celebrated Laudato Si' week from the 16th-24th May. Pope Francis’ encyclical 'The Way we Care for our Common Home' was being promoted and celebrated around the world.
Pope Francis encourages Catholics to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation he reminds us that it’s a loving and merciful encounter between us and God. It’s a message full of hope, in which he invites us to rediscover the power of personal renewal that the Sacrament of Confession has in our life. “Let us pray that we may experience the Sacrament of Reconciliation with renewed depth, to taste the forgiveness and infinite mercy of God,” Pope Francis asks. This month’s video opens with the Pope himself going to confession, “in order to be healed, to heal my soul.”
You can see his video here.
Earlier this year, FCJ Secondary School Bunclody in Ireland sent us a beautiful film that they produced for Catholic Schools Week. It was sent to us to offer a 'mindful moment' at this challenging time. This is our reply to them and to all our FCJ companion schools.

RACIAL JUSTICE SUNDAY. This year’s Racial Justice Sunday is more important than ever. The effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, the killing of George Floyd, and the powerful message on fraternity and equality by Pope Francis in Fratelli Tutti speak of the need to actively oppose racism and pursue racial justice with renewed vigour. The theme is ‘A Time to Act’. Racial issues and inequalities were identified nationally and internationally in 2020 generating awareness, emotion and outrage. Action is needed to further the cause of racial justice but what can we do? Read reflection on the theme. There is also a message from Bishop Paul McAleenan, the Lead Bishop for Racial Justice
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Maria Fidelis gained a top 10 place (AGAIN) in the Global Challenge for French in November 2020. Our top three French scorers were Iman (Y10), Sumayyah (Y12) and Joanna (Y12). Congratulations are also in order for Y10 students Simon, Redeate, Mehreen, Fatima, Yameen, Anas and Charlie who all featured in the top 10!
Maria Fidelis students did the school proud today with their tremendous generosity. In order to celebrate Founder's Day, every student brought in something for the Euston Foodbank, with many children bringing whole bags full.
This will make a huge difference for local people, and many families will undoubtedly benefit from these donations.
Well done everyone!
Happy Founder's Day!
Following our collections for Family Fast Day, a group of Sixth Form students took the donations to the Euston Foodbank.
