  • FCJ Week

    Published 16/11/21

We were delighted to spend time in companionship with the FCJ sisters who worked with our young people reinforcing the Gospel messages through the FCJ values. Pupils and staff were reminded that every individual who is a member of our school is part of the wider FCJ community. We have shared values and with this a shared responsibility to be good stewards of the earth.

The religious sisters spent some time sharing their vocation stories with our pupils. The FCJ values were revisited; the global work of the FCJ communities were highlighted; and links were made between our school values and their work for the care of our common home. The sisters explained why their presence at COP 26 was important: as people of faith, we should strive to do good work to care for the environment.

Companionship is central to all the work that FCJ communities do. As companions, both children and staff were encouraged to walk alongside our neighbour, to accompany and be present with and for them as we build a sustainable world.

“May God always be with you and direct all your deeds”

  • Afghan Refugee Collection

    Published 10/11/21

Our school community did a fantastic job at the end of last term when they collected a huge amount of clothes, books, toys, sanitary items and food to donate to the food back and the refugee families in our local area.

Students have dedicated time after school to place items in bags and organise them and then deliver them to the families living around our school. A lot of these families recently arrived from Afghanistan with nothing, so the items delivered have been happily received. Items such as coats, shoes, warm jumpers are so important in these cold winter months.

We are very proud of our school community and the wonderful generosity they have shown. This has always been a strength of Maria Fidelis students and families. The difference they have made to these families is huge and profound.

A huge THANK YOU to all involved.

    Published 20/10/21

Staff and students at Maria Fidelis celebrated all cultures today by coming to school in traditional dress.  We have students and staff whose heritage comes from all over the world, and it was a bright a colourful autumn day around the school.  As part of the celebration, everyone who came to school in traditional dress brought in a donation for the Euston Foodbank and their generosity was truly amazing.

  • Year 7 Retreat to Aylesford

    Published 10/09/21

All year 7 students went on retreat to Aylesford today as part of their induction programme at Maria Fidelis.  They had a wonderful time, meeting Fr Jed, who told them the story of the friary and answered questions about the history of Aylesford.  We then went to mass outdoors and students learnt about the parable of the paralysed man and talked about FCJ values before taking part in a team building exercise.  They had to protect an egg, which was to be launched into the air, so they needed to discuss strategies, use their intelligence to think about what resources to use and work together to create the perfect protection for their egg.  The students worked excellently together and almost all the eggs survived.
